Where to eat in Hoi An

Suggestions on where to go to enjoy the delicious Vietnamese cuisine and other types of food in Hoi An.

I cannot recommend highly enough the food tour The original Taste of Hoi An , as mentioned in the post Things to Do in Hoi An. There is no better way to sample a wide variety of traditional Vietnamese dishes.

However, if you’re looking for specific restaurants, here are some additional suggestions, some of which recommended on the food tour.

Bánh Mì Phượng

Located here. As mentioned in the post Where to Eat in Hanoi, the famous Bánh Mì sandwich is one of my favourite foods in all of Asia. Despite some debate among Vietnamese that its origins are more French than Vietnamese, it remains a must-try.

This restaurant gained popularity after being recommended by Anthony Bourdain. An alternative (and rival) spot to try a Bánh Mì is at Madam Khanh – The Banh Mi Queen located here.

As we had a Bánh Mì included in our food tour, we didn’t get to try either of these places.

Silent Garden

Located here. A charming restaurant with outdoor seating serving reasonably priced Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. It’s very simple, but very tasty.

Morning Glory

Located here. One of the most popular restaurants in the old town of Hoi An. Although we didn’t eat here, it was highly recommended by another family staying at the same hotel.

Market Bar

Located here. Famous for its cocktails and for the fish and chips.

It’s not the best place to take kids in the evening, but if you want a drink with a view of the river, it’s worth a visit. Walk through the night market, and you’ll find the Market Bar on the first floor. The fish and chips were very good. You can find more details on their Facebook page here.

Tuyet Restaurant

Located here at An Bang beach. This restaurant serves mainly seafood, and their spring rolls are a specialty not to be missed. We didn’t end up going here, but it came highly recommended.
