Arrival in Lombok

Getting to Lombok island, Indonesia, with useful information on travelling from Singapore, visas, local currency, and other details.

The airline Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is the only airline offering direct flights from Singapore, which is very convenient for us. There are four flights per week, and although they may not be at the most convenient times, it is the best way to get to Lombok.

Both times we travelled to Lombok, we were the last passengers to leave the airport, believe it or not! As I mentioned in the Before traveling to Lombok post, as soon as we got off the plane, we went to the Visa on Arrival (VOA) queue, which was quite fast. Almost every line took ages, but we had the knack of choosing the SLOWEST one of all.

If you have internet on your phone (for example, with an Airalo data package), you can start filling in the customs form online while you wait at Immigration using the link next to where you bought the VOA. For those without mobile data, Customs also offer Wi-Fi access or provide some computers to submit the forms after clearing Immigration.

After finally completing the arrival procedures and still inside the airport, there are some stalls where you can buy local SIM cards, as well as a supermarket where you can buy snacks and drinks.

From the time we got off the plane until we left the airport, it always took us about two hours! Which is quite a long time, especially when travelling with children.

At the airport exit, we had a car arranged by the hotel to take us to our accommodation, which I recommend as the airport exit can be a bit chaotic with the number of people offering transport.
