The Old Quarter is where you’ll find the chaotic atmosphere that makes Hanoi so special. This area is full of cafes, restaurants, handicraft shops, street food and an endless array of sights to explore. The hotels I recommend below are all located in this area, which you can easily explore on foot. However, don’t miss the chance to try the traditional cyclo ride for an authentic Hanoi experience.
For our stay in Hanoi, we chose the Peridot Grand Luxury Boutique Hotel. It’s a real 5-star hotel, with beautiful rooms and amazing service! At the time we travelled, there wasn’t much tourism due to the Covid restrictions that some countries still had. So, I was able to book nicer hotels than I would normally, as the prices were quite affordable. In fact, all over Vietnam you can find very good hotels at much lower prices than in other places.
The Peridot Hotel was stunning, and walking through the streets of the old quarter, it seemed that all the hotels were beautiful, with grand entrances, large armchairs, and a strong French colonial influence. Vietnam was under French occupation from the second half of the 19th century, so there’s a lot of architectural heritage from this period.
Other hotel recommendations in Hanoi
This was a recommendation from my friend Nina, who stayed here when the hotel had just opened and was very pleased with her experience. The reviews are excellent, so make sure to check it out.
A highly rated hotel with a great location.
This is the cheapest option of the hotels I’ve listed, yet it has excellent reviews and a super central location.
